That Dam Place: Reviews & Ratings
My friends and I have eaten here many times and we have never left disappointed. The waitresses are always so friendly an never forget to recommend their specials, my friend got the Beast Burger (one of the specials) and he loved it! For me, the death sentence meal I order was fantastic! It came out just the way I wanted it to along with their sweet potato fries that melt in your mouth, they were so good! If you've been think about going here, just do it, you will not be let down. Also, if you see a review talking about some kids being loud and singing their "ABC's" THAT WAS US!!!
Delicious food! The crab wontons are amazing. We also had the lamb burger and the lobster roll, death sentence burger, and puppy bites. Don't sleep on the sweet potato fries or onion rings, either. Everything was delicious and filling. Service was so nice and friendly! They gave our toddler some goldfish while our food was cooking. Red Bus Brewing options on tap. The whole theme is also hilarious, what attention to detail!
Seemingly everything on the menu looked great! I picked the crawfish hush puppies!!!! So delicious !!!! I also went with the pastrami! So very tender and flavorful! The rye bread was not overpowering, which made it pretty much impossible to not eat it all!!!!
We were craving a lobster roll when we discovered an intriguing restaurant called That Dam Place. Their menu features not only a classic lobster roll but also other uniquely named dishes. Our first visit was on a Tuesday, only to find the restaurant closed—an important reminder to check the schedule before heading out! They operate from Wednesdays to Mondays, 11:30 AM to 8 PM. Determined to try the food, we returned on Thursday at lunchtime. We ordered “The Last Meal,” which includes the classic lobster roll, Shaw-Shanks, and Chowdah of the Moment. • Lobster Roll: Served with a fresh salad and crispy potato chips, the lobster roll was a delight. The chips, crunchy and flavorful, reminded me of those from my home country. The server mentioned they’re made fresh daily, hand-cut with a Japanese mandolin, and seasoned with a chef’s special blend featuring Old Bay as the base. • Shaw-Shanks: Also known as “pork wings,” this dish came with a refreshing cucumber and carrot salad tossed in wasabi-mayo sauce. Although I can’t recall all the toppings, it was the best salad I’ve tasted so far—perfectly balanced in heat and seasoning. • Chowdah of the Moment: This carrot and datil pepper soup featured a harmonious blend of sweet carrot and the spicy kick of datil pepper. The server explained that they grow and dry their own datil peppers to create this amazing soup, and they also use fresh herbs from their patio in other dishes. I’m thrilled that my craving for lobster rolls led me to That Dam Place. The intriguing menu names and satisfying food make this restaurant a memorable find. Thank you for cooking such delicious food!
We stopped in here this afternoon for a bite, not really sure what we were in for, but really appreciating the punny name This place is both DARLING and delicious I had the tuna sandwich (“New Fish on the Blok” — special shout out to the BREAD omg — I will see you in my DREAMS) and hubs had the “Citizen’s Arrest” burger — both were excellent! Our server (Kerri, maybe?) was so welcoming, kind, and generous with her advice on what/how to order (and I am very glad I listened — did you know you can mix red wine vinaigrette and poppyseed dressing to create a fabulously unique flavor profile?! Game changer!) and we enjoyed both The Love Boat and the Andy Griffith Show reruns on the TV (cue the wholesome family vibes!) The space is delightfully eclectic — from Minions to ceramic samurais to art by local artists to rock crystals to tiny buddhas to jade plants decked with little pumpkins; it’s a menagerie of lovingly curated tchotchkes) — and the menu itself is full of jailhouse pith and vinegar (did I have a tossed salad? you bet your butt [HA!] I did)! Overall, such a win — looking forward to the next time we’re in the area and can visit this place again!
The food is authentic and delicious! Lobster roll and onion rings are great! They had a soap opera playing in the TV and it was cold in there! The decor is a mix match of Christmas, Valentines and some left over Asian flair. Maybe the heater just wasn’t working. Will I come back?? Yes…but I’ll get it to go!
I like the place but didn’t love it. It has an eclectic diner vibe; none of the objects matched with the exception of Folsom prison. I loved the servers, they were kind, explained all the food options and truly made me feel welcomed. I tried a burger with shiitake mushrooms and it was okay. Maybe I picked the wrong thing. I also had a local beer from red bus, again good but not great. I enjoyed the service more than anything.
This place was awesome! They make everything in house, from the salad dressing to the clam chowder. The wait staff was very friendly. My wife had the " Last meal lobster roll". Which she reported was fantastic! I had the "(Not your) Patsy-Strami" a smoked pastrami on rye and It was delicious! If you haven't tried this place yet, I highly recommend you do!
